Week 12: Social Media Marketing

Social Media Marketing is when you use platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and other apps people use for social purposes to promote your business, advertise your products, and drive traffic.
In Social Media Marketing, content creation is very important. Having appealing content that your audience will engage with and even convert through is probably the center of Social Media Marketing. Most people already have a basic idea of this concept.
But I want to talk about the less-known side of Social Media Marketing—or at least the side I knew less about.

Choosing the Right Platforms: The importance of knowing which social media platforms and what content works on each is crucial.

  • Facebook: Best for local e-commerce and B2C. Main demographic: age 25–55. Best suited for engaging informational content, especially videos.
  • Instagram: Best for brands that sell most effectively through visuals. Demographic: age 18–35. The best content includes high-quality photos and reels that are engaging, especially personal stories.
  • TikTok: Best for brands targeting the age demographic of 16–30, like influencers and creative lifestyle brands. The best content includes short-form engaging videos that feel authentic and are often trends, fun, or educational.
  • LinkedIn: Best for businesses that sell B2B. Demographic: business owners and professionals in need of professional services. The best content includes posts about success in business, job postings, or industry-specific educational content.

Content Calendar: Consistently posting a ratio of organic, community-building, and paid ad content is best practice in order to grow a business’s presence on a platform while still increasing revenue through sales.

Engaging with Followers: Build a community, answer questions, and give out prizes. This will increase retention with customers and target audiences.

Paid Social Media Ads: Using social media ads is a great way to specifically target your market because of the settings of social media ads and the ability to pick the platform that best fits your audience.

Social Media Analytics: Tracking analytics in marketing is always important, and in social media marketing, it’s just the same. If you track your analytics, you will be able to use strategy to optimize your content for reach, engagement, and conversion rates.

Using these best practices and strategies with optimized content is the key to success in Social Media Marketing.
